Ufology is the study of UFOs, unidentified flying object and USOs, unidentified submerged objects, and a Ufologist is a person who studies them.
Prior to the term unidentified flying object, the term flying saucer was most common as that was the shape most people described after seeing one when these flying discs seem to have become more prevalent or at least reported earlier on in the 1900’s.
There has been even more interest in reporting the facts or at least trying to uncover the facts and evidence about these strange objects seen flying through our skies in the last decade as seen by the number of television shows being broadcast on the subject. Most people believe the governments of the world know a whole lot more about them than they are letting on and it is hard to tell if the private researchers are getting any closer to the truth themselves.
UFO’s are in the same category as Bigfoot and the Loch ness monster. These are things most people do not really believe exist until they see one themselves. It is believed that many sightings are not reported as those that do are quite frequently ridiculed and made fun of.
Whether someone believes in UFO’s or not it seems that reported sightings have never been more prevalent and the evidence caught on video never so compelling as it has been in recent years. Even with all the evidence as given on the popular TV shows and even news programs it is still hard for many people to believe that there might be creatures or entities from other planets visiting our own.
The internet is a vast resource of information available to anyone seeking information on the subject. In fact there is so much information that one could probably spend the better part of the rest of their life reading about UFO’s and the theories behind them.
Some of the most compelling evidence that we are not alone in the universe comes from ancient cave paintings and other literature that has survived through the centuries. It seems that people have been seeing unidentified flying objects for centuries. Imagine their thoughts on things of this matter long before human flight was possible.
It is clear that mankind is just beginning to get a grasp on things of the paranormal and supernatural. Perhaps in another one hundred years the unanswered questions of today will be common knowledge.
In the meantime our desire to understand the world around us will compel us to keep investigating. Poking and prodding into the currently unknown we are sure to eventually uncover the truth.
